Every time you turn on the TV, have you ever counted how many ads or even shows have these great looking, slim, sexy people on there who look like they were just blessed with their toned bodies? Makes you wish, right? Well, you can stop wishing because that body is very attainable and getting those sexy abs is very possible. How did I know it was the abs you were eyeing?


Because everyone wants to have flat sexy abs! So the next thing is how to go about getting them. Well, just like with anything else worth working hard for, you need to have the right information but that is not the solution, just a first step. Keep in mind that it will require some hard work from you to achieve this sexy look.


The first thing you need to do is forget everything that people have told you about how to get sexy flat abs. Toned abs are not a result of hundreds of crunches or thousands of sit-ups or anything like that. Also, toned abs are not a result of using over-priced, useless ab machines.


There are a few gimmicky toys that come to mind but those are completely useless. If you fail to have the right foundation, no amount of hoping, wishing, or purchasing of silly gimmicks will get you those toned abs you desire. What will is learning about how to build on that foundation and then following through on that new knowledge. You must work to get these highly sought after toned abs. So here are some key points to think about:


- Eat healthy and stick to it. Your diet should include fruits, vegetables and high quality meats with no processed foods. Drink plenty of water, about 8-10 glasses a day to keep yourself hydrated. And no matter what, avoid processed foods, including fast food, otherwise you are stopping yourself in your tracks and wasting your own time.


- Excess body fat will stop you in your tracks. Lose the belly fat and reduce overall body fat and you will be well on your way to toned abs. But you must lose the excess fat to get there.


- Sleep and you will help yourself get to those toned abs. You should always get roughly 8 hours of sleep a night but even more so since you are working out. If you can, take small naps. This will help your body re-energize.


- Lose the ab exercises! Go with cardio instead. Running on the treadmill or on a track or even outdoors will greatly reduce your body fat, which is one of the keys to getting toned abs. Ab exercises were never meant to burn fat because they are not structured to do so. It is only through cardio workouts that you will be able to burn fat.


If you can stick to these key points, then you will be well on your way to having your own sexy toned abs. It is important to stick to it though, no matter how tough it may get or how much you might crave a certain processed food. Stay strong and stick to it and you will soon see those highly desired flat toned abs!

Most everyone wants to have nice abs that look slim and sexy. However, there are a few very common mistakes that many people make which prevents from getting a solid six pack.

Mistake #1: Trying to do too many crunches to lose stomach fat

If only doing lots of crunches worked for carving out a solid set of abs. If doing a few hundred crunches was all it took to lose body fat then everyone walking around would not have any excess fat. Doing lots of crunches and other ab exercises do not help you get nice abs simply because they do not help you lose the fat that covers them up!

Ab exercises simply do not burn enough calories or stimulate the body’s metabolism enough to get down to 8-10% body fat for a man and 15-20% if you are a woman. The only way doing lots of crunches will help is if you are already down to a very low body fat percentage and want to increase the “toned” look of your abs. If you cannot see your abs at all then it simply means that is too much body fat covering them up!

Therefore, the focus of your diet and exercise routine should be to lose body fat so you can see your abs. Doing endless amounts of ab exercises just won’t help do that.

Mistake #2: Not keeping a food log

Since you know that getting a nice set of six pack abs all depends on having low enough levels of body fat, you should know that the next step is to pay attention to the most important part of the whole process: the amount of calories you are consuming.

If you have excess body fat that you can’t seem to get rid of, then you absolutely have to understand that it is simply the result of taking in too many calories. Its not from poor genetics or some other physical disorder, it just comes down to consuming too many calories. The fitness models who have the sexiest abs of anyone will be the first to tell you they got that way by being extremely careful about what they eat.

The absolute best indication you can use for figuring this out is to keep a food log of what you are eating. You will be amazed at the perspective you will gain about your eating habits from keeping a food log.

Since getting nice abs and a lean midsection is all about losing body fat, and losing body fat is all about taking in less calories or burning more with exercise, then a food log to track yourself is an absolute must.

Mistake #3: Not lifting weights

This will seem counterintuitive to some, but lifting weights is an excellent way to lose more body fat. Resistance training will give you more lean muscle mass that will have a dramatic impact with increasing your resting metabolism.

This means that you are burning more calories because muscle is very active tissue. If you are not strength training then you are missing a huge opportunity to burn more calories. It has been said that each extra pound of muscle mass burns an extra 60 calories per day. If you gain even 3 lbs of lean muscle tissue, you will burn an extra 180 calories each day! That is much more than a simple ab workout will burn.

Getting nice abs does not have to be a big struggle in which you are constantly playing the guessing game. You simply need to eat the right foods at the right time while tracking your calories.

You see it everywhere, and you definitely hear it everywhere. Sexy abs this, sexy abs that. And of course, you hear about those infomercials that boast a great “ab machine” that will supposedly solve all of your ab-problems.


Sorry to be the bubble burster but that’s just not the case. There is no machine that will be able to work all of the areas of your abdominals and effectively give you sexy abs or six-packs or whatever you want to call them. Instead of listening to that, here’s how you really get it done.


In spite of people complaining about working out or how there is just not enough hours in a day, there’s plenty of time and more than sufficient time to work out. The key is to do effective and efficient exercises that will target the main areas you need in order to get to those sexy abs.


But keep in mind, your abdominals consist of many muscles in places that may not be easy to reach during most workouts. Ab machines usually only focus on the main ones, lower abs but don’t forget about your upper abs and your obliques for starters. In any case, working out is key, so make time for it.


Here’s the other thing, you don’t need machines. That’s why ab machines are a waste; that and the fact that they don’t work all of your ab muscles. The great thing about your ab muscles is that you work them doing a whole slew of other exercises too and you don’t need machines to focus on your abs. So you don’t have to go out and buy machines and you don’t have to join a gym!


The other half of the equation is your lifestyle in general. By lifestyle, that mainly focuses on your eating habits. Don’t believe what people say that you can have sexy abs even if you don’t eat healthy. That’s a flat out lie. In order to get those sexy abs, you must eat healthy, otherwise your body will not be able to tone up enough where your sexy abs will show up!


Don’t get discouraged though because healthy diets don’t equal the end of great food. If you look hard enough, trust me, there are plenty of great recipes out there that will easily replace the ones you love that are not so healthy. And keep this thing in mind too; you don’t have to cut out that particular not so healthy food all together. You just have to cut down on it but if you can eliminate completely, all the better!


What you will want to focus on is eating quality fresh foods, particularly vegetables and meat. Things that are fried should, of course, be avoided as much as possible, completely if so. Drink lots of water instead of sugar-filled or caffeine filled drinks and, yes, that includes coffee, soda, fruit drinks and even sports drinks.


It really is that simple of an equation: work out and healthy diet. It’s the easiest and simplest and most cost-effective way to lose weight and tone up enough to reveal those sexy abs!

The situation you are in, trust me, I have been there before and I have failed to get those flat abs going from gadget to gadget, machine after machine. You have probably, like I did, spent tons of money on so called ab machines that promise abs with just 5 minutes a day or whatever catch phrase they use.


You may even have researched all the ab exercises that are out there but with no real results. But I can tell you, without a doubt, there is definitely a way to get sexy toned abs and it is easier than any of those things you have already tried. Simple and easy, it is a little trade secret that most of the fitness industry keep to themselves. Here it is: belly fat.


I said simple and easy, right? Well it is. Get rid of belly fat and you will absolutely get those sexy abs! No no, no scoffing, not a joke or anything at all. It is also really easy to get rid of belly fat. It all boils down to whether you are willing to do it or not. Once you get rid of belly fat, your toned and defined muscles will completely show through.


Oh and by the way, you do not have to be considered overweight to have belly fat. Yes, you may not think that you have any fat on you but it is very true. Everyone has fat on them, especially in the belly area. If you do not see your ab muscles or consider yourself to have sexy abs, then you do have belly fat. But, the good thing is that it is very easy to lose that belly fat!


To fully understand how to lose your belly fat and get those flat abs, you have to understand the role of fat, in general, in your body. The only role of fat in your body is to serve as an energy source for your muscles. When your body is going about its every day routine, your body will naturally use the fat stored just below your skin to fuel your muscles.


When you workout, which I recommend doing, your body uses more fat since your muscles are working harder but it is still using up fat even when you are not working out. So the first thing that needs to be discussed if you want to get sexy toned abs is your diet, since it directly contributes to fat.


All food becomes fat even if it is only a portion of that food. With that in mind, your goal while you are striving to get great flat abs is to make sure your diet is very much focused on healthy, whole fresh foods. What you are going to want to avoid are processed foods, period.


An easy way to go about this, think lean because when YOU are lean, your sexy abs will show through. So go for fresh produce, as in fruits and vegetables, and fresh, high quality meats. Avoid anything found in a box or jar or that contains tons of chemicals. You have to build a foundation of healthy eating habits to begin to lose belly fat.


Now, the second part of this is your workout. You have to do it. But you do not have to use silly ab machines or odd ab exercises that are difficult to even visualize. What you need to burn fat is a great cardio workout and a great strength training workout because the cardio burns fat like nothing else and you will need the strength training to really give your muscles that extra push in toning and defining them.


As far as specific time or weight is concerned, it is best to try it out on your own first to see what level you are currently at. Once you get a feel for your level, keep pushing yourself at regular intervals, each week or each month, and you will soon see the difference. You will never even think about using ab machines again.

When it comes to exercises for hot abs, crunches may be the first thing to pop in your mind. In fact, some aspirers of great hot abs would only do crunches. However, there are five major abdominal muscles that need attention, and crunches do not exercise all of these abs muscles. In fact, the ideal exercise routine for hot 6 pack abs does not only involve the abdominal muscles. Cardiovascular and strength exercises should be part of the routine as well.

Work that Body!

To get ripped hot abs, ensure that the following are incorporated in your exercise routine:

1) Work all abdominal muscles. Crunches are classic, but your specific abdominal exercises should not be limited to these only. Examples of exercises that involve other abdominal parts are the following:

• Lying bicycle. From a lying position, bend your right leg at the knee while pulling your right thigh up at the hip. Curl your spine up to the right, letting your left elbow touch your right knee. Do the same routine from your other side, from the left leg.

• Standing towel circle. Stand up straight and hold a small towel (or resistance band) taut above your head. Contract abs and slowly whirl a large, wide circle over your head and around your torso with your hands.

• Seated jackknife: From a supine lying position, stretch your legs and arms and keep a pad or a form of support under the hips. Pull your legs back with knees bent. All together, bring your head, shoulders and arms forward to jackknife position pivoting on the buttocks. Hold the contraction.

2) Cardio is the way to go. Walking, running, jogging, swimming, and aerobics are good examples. Cardio burns calories and thus sheds the fat that hides your hot abs.

Belly dancing, particularly for women, is especially a good combination of cardiovascular and abs exercise. Not only can it tone the tummy and make it sexy, it is also fun!

3) Lift those weights. Building muscle through weightlifting is essential to get that great, fast abs as increased muscle mass means a faster and higher rate of burning calories.

Mind and Body Connection

If you do not believe that you can have that sexy abs, you are slowing or cutting down the results of your workout program. Imagine yourself with that hot abs and believe it. A good visualization exercise would be to imagine seeing yourself in the mirror – only you are seeing a sexier you with the exact kind of abs you have always dreamed of. Then, allow yourself to enter the mirror and merge with that image. Note how you feel. After getting in touch with all sensations, step out of the mirror and push it away.

Yoga can also improve your concentration and will power to stick with your routine. Meditation and daily affirmation can generally increase your results.

Follow these tips to get your desired washboard abs, complement it with a healthy abs diet, and watch the results. With these tips, you will soon be flaunting your hot abs with confidence!

When you’re ready to slim up and flatten your abs make sure not to focus just on ab workouts, to achieve results it will require a full body workout. To eat through the fat sitting on your belly, just focus on two things, burning calories and building muscle.

First let’s start with the easy part, burning calories.

Your using up energy all day long and even while you’re sleeping. The key is to move around. Full body workouts will help you to be more active and thus burn more calories and by happy coincidence you’re also building muscle.

Women can target their abs with a full body workout known as Pilates. Pilates will help you to build muscle, burn fat and target your core with focused exercises. Flat abs can also be achieved with other workouts like cardio. Use it as a stepping stone to more difficult and results driven exercises.

A low intensity cardio exercise can be a quick walk around the park all while burning calories and not burning yourself out. Just remember though, low intensity does not mean no intensity, if things start getting too easy, be sure to push yourself a little further.

Try raised leg crunches, a lot of women have found success with this ab workout since it directly targets the abs. To do this work-out right, lay flat on the ground with your hands behind your head and bend your legs at a 90 angle off the floor, the bring your knees toward your head while flexing your abs, repeat the process. Keep it up for about 30 seconds, you’ll find the exercise hits the abs and your legs directly, both are important for a strong core and flat abs.

After you’ve done the raised leg crunches for a while you can move on to a more difficult exercise like the super crunches. This exercise will work your entire abdomen and your lower and upper legs. This exercise can take place in the same position as the raised leg crunch but you need to make sure the legs are parallel to the ceiling when bringing your knees to your head. Crunch your core and don’t hold back.

Women this ab workout will stretch you to your limits, make sure you’re exhaling as you bring your knees up. Crunches are an essential part to any workout regimen, you’ll burn fat and build muscle.

In time and as the intensity builds your abs will start to show and you’ll finally achieve the flat abs you’ve always wanted!
