Have you been doing a thousand sit ups a day without results? Do you want a work out that will give you amazing abs? Well, prepare to be surprised. The reason most people do not get amazing abs from doing ab exercises is because you cannot spot reduce fat. To get amazing abs you need to reduce your over all body fat percentage to under 10% for a man and 16% for a woman.

So how do I go about getting amazing abs?

Well, this may come as a further surprise but we are not going to work your abs at all. First we are going to build muscle because the more muscle you have the more fat you burn. Just as you cannot spot reduce fat it is not recommended to do exercises that focus on individual muscle groups. You want to do exercises like dead lifts and squats, bench press and clean and jerk that work multiple muscle groups at the same time.

An Abdominal Training Programme That Melts Fat Like Butter Posted By: John Kidder

A few years ago I was forty pounds overweight. Now, I am on the verge of having a six pack of abs at the age of 44. Let me tell you the wrong way and the right way to go about this.

First things first, to get down to the body fat percentage you need in order to actually see all the effort you are putting into your abs men need to be below 10% and women need to be below 16%. But, like everyone out there I did not realize that reducing fat in your midsection was about reducing your overall body fat percentage. I actually did not put a lot of thought into it, but I either had this natural assumption that I could spot reduce fat on my belly or, I just followed the example everyone else set and did sit ups and crunches. Unfortunately, most everyone else is doing the wrong things in order to burn calories.

Let us think about it for a moment. To lose a single pound of fat you must burn exactly 3,500 calories.

Are You Looking For Some Ab Workouts That Really Work? Posted By: John Kidder

Let me guess, you have done thousands of sit ups, crunches, leg lifts, knee raises and countless other things all with no results. I am sorry to tell you that your efforts have been misdirected. But, I am happy to tell you what to do to achieve your goals.

The truth of the matter is that those exercises are great for building muscle. However, you will still never see that muscle unless you are below 10% body fat for a man and 16% for a woman. Most of us do not fall into that category. We need to reduce body fat in order to see the results of our efforts. Unfortunately, you cannot spot reduce fat on your belly and, even if you could, ab exercises do not do a lot to burn calories.

So now it is an issue of burning fat not building muscle. Most people go about this by doing cardio exercises. However, just like sit ups this effort is misguided as well. A single pound of fat is 3,500 calories. Even if you spend an hour on the treadmill you are only burning about 400 to 500 calories.

Are you looking for a really good ab workout routine? Great! I have got some really good information for you. But, let us take a look at the science of getting great abs.

The first thing that you need to know is that if you want to see your abs but are packing a few extra pounds traditional ab workouts like situps are not going to help you lose that weight. A lot of people do crunches and other ab workouts to lose weight. However, you just cannot spot reduce fat and even if you could exercises that single out the abs do not generate enough calories to make a difference.

To see your abs you need to get down below 10% body fat if you are a man and 16% if you are a woman. To do this we are going to do special types of exercises called compound or multi joint exercises because they work multiple muscle groups at the same time. These are whole body workouts and the benefit is that they actually work your abs while you are working other muscle groups.

Are you l tired of leg lifts and stomach crunches? Perhaps you are frustrated because you have not seen any results. That is because, while ab workouts do strengthen your stomach muscles, the results are more often than not hidden by a layer of fat, (which is the real problem most people have with their abs). This is because you cannot spot reduce fat on your stomach any more than you can reduce it on your chin.

So how do I go about melting the fat and revealing my abs? The trick is that you must reduce your over all body fat percentage. Men must be below 10% and women must be below 16%. To do this you are going to do some workouts that you never would have guessed. These workouts do not focus on your abs at all. But, they do raise your resting metabolism rate so that you are burning more calories over a longer period of time.

Consequently you will reduce your over all body fat percentage while working your abdominal musculature indirectly.

Fantastic And Effective Ab Workouts To Do At Home, Bet You Have Never Thought Of These! Posted By: John Kidder

Shortly after I discovered these fantastic ab workouts I actually quit the gym. That is right, and I am probably never going back again. That is because, with what I have discovered I am experiencing greater results in less time.

Before we get into the exercises let us look at some fundamentals and why most people fail to reach their goals, in this case getting a fantastic set of abs to show off at the beach.

Most people at the gym do two different things to work their abs. They do long drawn out cardio and then they do sit ups, crunches or other things. They mistakenly think that they can spot reduce fat, but they can not and sit ups etc burn very few calories so your abs are still covered in a layer of fat. Cardio exercises are alright for burning fat but even if you burn 500 calories you still have 3,000 to go to burn a pound of fat.

It was an uphill climb until I discovered kettlebells (KB). This is a device that looks like a cannonball with a handle on it and is ideal for swinging between your legs.
