We all want to look good, gorgeous and simply irresistible. So when we look at ourselves in the mirror and notice those love handles bulging out like Santa’s we all freak out, feel down and frustrated. Then we decide on losing weight. We declare that starting today “no more carbs” or we will go to the gym and “workout”. But then again, these are just declarations. When we get to see Mom’s delicious home cooked beef casserole or Aunt’s special pineapple upside down or we get to pass by McDonald’s, we tend to say “It can start tomorrow right?” Others however, have more conviction and triumphantly wave the idea of pigging out.

Their problem however is that they find exercising hard and painful to endure. At the end they still don’t get the results they wanted. People tend to want outcomes to show with the blink of an eye and if they don’t get it overnight, they simply give up. Everybody wants things to go quick and easy especially when losing those flabs. What we need then is a quick ab workout! A program, that will let us lose those love handles without eating too much of our time, energy and money. Something like what I’m about to share with you…

Imagine a workout program that will just take fifteen minutes of your time or less. A program, that can be done within the comforts of your home. A program that is incredibly easy to do and will show results in no time. And a workout program that won’t cost you much money as compared to buying a hundreds of dollars worth equipment or a lifetime membership fee at Hollywood Gym.

I know what’s happening inside your head right now. So better stop imagining yourself wearing your new washboard abs, and get down to business. These simple steps will target your upper, middle and lower abs so as your obliques. Just follow one full rotation of each exercise that will consist of ten repetitions. Take a minute interval after every exercise. You might need a bench and a workout mat.

The Bench Knee ins.

Sit on the bench. Hold the sides of the bench for support. Lift your legs to form a letter V then bend your knees. Do a push and pull motion with your legs.

The Ab Crunch

We all had PE in our high school days. So just do as how your PE instructor taught you to. You weren’t be absent when your PE teacher discussed and demonstrated this. Or you were?!

The Leg Raise

Lie down and have your hands at the back of your head. Lift your legs up and down slowly. Do not bend your knees.

The Oblique Crunch

Sport the Ab crunch position. As you work on the sit-ups, twist your upper body to your right and left alternately.

The Elbows to Knees.

Lie down in the Ab crunch position. Let your right elbow reach your left knee and vice versa.

This workout program is guaranteed to show good results. With the aid of good diet and cardio, (of course!) you will surely get those six packs you’ve been dreaming of. So what are you waiting for? Grab your workout mat and do these easy steps and start losing those love handles and be ready for those envious stares you will get anytime soon!

How do I get flat abs? What a common question with a
simple answer. No matter how many crunches you do, unless you
lose the layer of fat covering your abs, you will not show those
sculpted abs.
Period. The basic concept to lose that
unwanted abdominal fat is by combining cardio and abs exercise,
and eating healthy. Talking from my own experience, I
will share some simple steps to get flat abs with you, as I am
on my way to revealing my own flat abs by saying solemnly
bye-bye to belly fat and welcome to those flat abs.

How many times have you heard that by doing 100s crunches a day
you will get those sculpted abs? Well, this is not so. If you
have a high body fat percentage, the abs just won’t show no
matter how much you work or how many repetitions you do,

simple as that. It is logic, if we are carrying extra fat, toned
muscles cannot show because they are being covered, precisely,
by that unwanted extra fat. The only way to get rid of fat is
not by targeting exercises, but by burning excessive fat by
doing cardio exercises and adjusting our meals. In other
words, showing abs does not happen only in the floor exercise,
but also in the kitchen.

Abs exercises, just like any other muscle exercises, should
be done at least every other day,
not daily. Muscles need
time to recover. In my case, I am doing abs exercises every 2
days, so I give my abs muscles 48 hours to recover. I make sure
to consume enough protein too to help for muscle recovery and
burn more fat. In a nutshell, eating better and exercising will
maximize your efforts to lose weight and flatten your abs fast.

EATING HABITS – Helpful food/herbs for flat abs

Before starting with our abs exercise plan, it is important to
adjust our eating habits too. Your diet, or as I prefer to call
it “eating regime,” should consist of higher protein intake,
moderate fat and moderate complex carbohydrate. Consuming high
complex carbohydrate and not using all that energy will lead to
stored fat; that is why a higher protein diet is advisable, not
that you have to eliminate carbs. Carbs are necessary to have
energy and properly body functioning. However, do not go to
extremes, just be moderate, not like crazy pre-set diets.
Eliminate all excess simple sugars and excess saturated fats.

You can use extra virgin olive oil as it is monounsaturated fat.
Reality is that permanent weight loss requires a permanent
change in eating habits; drastic diets are not the way to keep
the weight off.

Drinking water is your other big step to get flat abs.
Water flushes both waste and toxins from your body and maintains
a sense of satiety while also flushing fat from your system
before it can be stored. Water not only dilutes the digestive
fluids, but also accelerates the passage of food. Drink at least
8 glasses of water. How about burning extra calories with water?
How? Drink cold water, and you can burn extra calories as your
body warms it up.

About eating habits, many times, we tend to retain water or gas,
which seems that we are accumulating “fat” when in reality it is
“gas” for eating too fast or having foods hard to digest. It
is crucial to eat slowly, enjoy each bite, and do not swallow
without appreciating all flavors.
The best suggestion to aid
digestion is to have daily yogurt (good at fighting the bad
bacteria and improving digestion), or add some type of “anise”
(either raw or as a tea infusion), the other option is by adding
digestive enzyme aids.

A great mistake is skipping breakfast. As many
nutritionists highlight, this is the main meal because is like
fuel to the body. After sleeping, we need to recover water and
add protein to our bodies as well as fiber. Ideally, oatmeal is
great for breakfast with enough carbs, fiber, and low in sugars.
Besides, it helps reduce cholesterol.

For dinner, you can have some chicken with salad because you
need to have some type of protein to help you burn fat, build
muscle and do not only limit only to salads, which is mostly
“low glycemic carbs” … or better said, water. Also, remember
of not adding heavy extra calorie dressing. You can use balsamic
vinegar or lemon. If not having chicken, you can have a protein
shake, yogurt, tofu, eggs, or any high protein meal.

These are suggested food/herbs to improve abs and to fight
bloated feeling.

Ginger Anise Celery Fennel Onion Garlic Green tea YOGURT (non
fat or low fat) Leek Raw sesame seeds Watermelon Strawberries

You can include them in your daily regime by either eating them
raw, cooked, or drinking tea, accordingly. I cannot emphasize
enough the importance of drinking Green tea. This is my main
magical drink because it speeds up my metabolism and sets it to
a fat burning mode. I prepare a cold pitcher of green tea for
the day. Sometimes, I drink it hot too. Generally, for the cold
pitcher, I combine it with ginger and anise, and that is my main
arm to combat fat and bloated feeling.

I suggest you eat every 3 hours to keep your body in “fat
burning mode.” Naturally, I am talking about small portions, not
super size portions. For instance, I eat every 3 hours, keeping
2 main meals and the other 4 snacks, including protein in all 6,
especially for breakfast and dinner.

Do not go into drastic diets because if you drop your calories
too drastically, your body may opt to use muscle tissue for
energy instead of fat. Moderation is the key. Many people who go
on fad diets look so soft because they lose almost as much
muscle mass as fat. Many studies have shown that the majority
of people, who use drastic diets, will gain the weight back, if
not even more than they lost.
To make it personal, I was one
of those statistics. I fell many times into the yo-yo cycle
until I said no more! I rather lose weight and keep the weigh
off, than just a quick fake weight loss.
How about you?

Nutritional supplements are good to aid your program, but as the
word says, they are just supplements. Your supplements
cannot do the work for you if you are not eating and exercising
properly. For instance, when I am running out of time, and
cannot have my protein meal, I drink a protein shake.

EXERCISE TIPS FOR BELLY FLATTENING – DEFINING YOUR ABS

You can expect to feel or see results in as little as 2 weeks
by combining cardio and abs exercises and your eating
regime.
A combination of carbs and protein are needed for a
pre-workout meal. Exercise tips for a faster belly-flattening
plan include different sets of exercises, at least 3 times per
week 30-45 minutes cardio, and 2-3 times per week abs exercises.
(I use weight lifting training too.) here is no such thing as
magical fat spot reducing.
It is a matter of lowering total
fat levels; as you lose fat, it will come off automatically all
over your body-not just in specific spot areas.

Do 2-3 sets for each exercise. Each set consists of 15 to 20
repetitions of each exercise. For every exercise, move slowly to
make the muscle work: 2 or 3 seconds up, hold 1 second, and 2 or
3 seconds down. The point here is to fatigue the muscle, not on
how fast you can do an exercise. You can rest about 90 seconds
between sets.

Note: If you cannot do 2 sets, it is ok. Start with one;
the important thing is to start, take action to see results. Do
not get discouraged; just try your best.

Crunches

1. Lie flat on your back with your feet flat on the ground (or
resting on a bench with your knees bent at a 90 degree angle,
three to four inches apart)

2. Place your hands lightly on either side of your head keeping
your elbows in. Tip: Don’t lock your fingers behind your head.

3. The key is to push the small part of your back down in the
floor to isolate your abs muscles.

4. Roll your shoulders off the floor; continue to push down –as
hard as you can– with your lower back to fatigue the muscle.

5. Shoulders should come up off the floor –only– about four
inches, while your lower back remains on the floor.

6. Concentrate on crunching together rather than moving your
body upwards to maximize muscle tension. Contract your muscles
as tight as you can to cause them to fatigue, the movement
should be like playing the accordion. This is more important
than doing quick repetitions.

Note: Another option is exercise ball crunch

Reverse crunches

1. Lie face up on the floor, place hands on the floor or just
behind the head. 2. Bring the knees in towards the chest bent to
about 90 degrees, with feet together or crossed. 3. Contract the
abs to curl the hips off the floor, reaching the legs up towards
the ceiling. 4. Use slow movements, emphasis is to use your abs
to lift your hips not swinging the legs.

Bicycle

1. Lie face up on the floor, lace your fingers behind your head.
2. Bring the knees in towards the chest and lift the shoulder
blades off the ground without pulling on the neck. 3. Pedaling
movement: Straight the left leg out while simultaneously turning
the upper body to the right, bringing the left elbow towards the
right knee. 4. Now, switch sides, bringing the right elbow
towards the left knee to complete the pedaling movement. 5. Do
slow pedaling to feel muscle contraction … remember, is not
about speed but about fatiguing the abs muscle.

Captain’s chair / Roman Chair (mostly found in gyms)

1. Stand on chair, grip handholds to stabilize your upper body,
keep it firm. 2. Make sure you are pressing your back against
the pad, now contract the abs to raise the legs and lift knees
towards your chest. 3. Remember to be firm and don’t arch the
back, repeat slowly…remember, emphasis is on the abs muscles.

Vertical Leg Crunch

1. Lie face up on the floor, extend the legs straight up with
knees crossed. (or straight) 2. Contract the abs to lift the
shoulder blades off the floor, as though reaching your chest
towards your feet. 3. Keep the legs in a fixed position and
lower to original position, but keep the legs extended.

Long Arm Crunch (my favorite)

1. Lie face up on the floor, extend the arms straight out behind
the head with hands clasped, keeping the arms next to the ears.
2. Contract the abs and lift the shoulder blades off the floor,
the pressure should be from the abs, not the neck. 3. Hold, feel
the contraction, and lower to original position.

Super Abs Stretch

1. Lie face up on the floor, extend the arms straight out behind
the head. 2. Bring down the arms, slowly, feel the abs muscle
stretching. Movement is arms straight behind the head to next to
the legs.

3. Up and down feeling the stretch, hold it and start all over.

Summarizing, targeting exercises will not work unless you are
targeting your entire body by doing cardio exercises and
eliminating fat.
Targeting upper, lower, inner, and outer
abs muscles will not burn fat; they define the muscles. Burning
fat is done by cardio exercises and by consuming healthy foods.
Remember, I told you already, flat abs are not only done in the
exercise floor, but in the kitchen. Recipe: Cardio, abs
exercise, and eating healthy. Just to add a funny note and bring
a smile, as my nephew Nadeem says, “What do you call a dog
with a fever that goes out to the snow? CHILLI DOG!!
“Ha ha
ha.

Oh well, au revoir, auf wiedersehen, adios, arrivederci! It is
time to do my abs exercises. How about you, are you ready to
say bye-bye to belly fat and welcome to flat abs?
I hope so.

Developing Your Dream Abs Posted By: Ronald Pedactor

Many people are unhappy with the way their body looks. These people wish they could lose more weight or be more in shape, but they simply do not have time to exercise in such a way to achieve their goals.

Developing muscles in the abdominal region can help the stomach appear thinner as well as helping one have more balance. In addition, these muscles can be developed through a few very short and easy exercises that do not take very much time every day.

One of these abdominal strengthening exercises is known as the bicycle exercise. The bicycle exercise focuses on working the abdominis and obliques, or stomach and waist area.

To perform this exercise simply lie on the floor with your lower back pressed into the ground. Place your hands beside your head and bring your knees to a 45 degree angle and slowly go through a bicycle pedal motion with your feet in the air.

As you pedal, touch your left elbow to the right knee, and the right elbow to your left knee. Be sure to maintain steady, calm breathing throughout the exercise.

The best workout will incorporate one to three sets of 12 to 16 repetitions.

Abs Work Out- Get Your Abs Looking How You Want Now

Getting a good abs workout can be done almost anywhere, at any time. There is no need for all this fancy gym equipment, strapping you into machines and pulling you this way and that. All you really need is a level floor. However, both floor and machine workouts will be taken into account.

Ensure you are focused and warmed up before you start any exercise. Also when doing floor work be sure to use a training mat for lower back support, working out on a hard floor can damage your back.

Basic Crunches: Lay on the floor with your knees raised a little, place your hands by your sides or behind your head, whatever feels comfortable. Now using your shoulders to lift your body off the floor toward your knees, start slowly, feel the abs tense as you come forward and back. There is no repetition limit here, so keep going until you fail. Do this exercise for 3-4 sets to failure; this should be a good start.

Crunch Twist: If you would like to ad a twist to your crunches, you can enhance the basic crunch by, holding your hands behind your head with your elbows out. During the upstroke move your right elbow across to you left knee for 10 strokes, then across to the opposite knee with the left elbow another 10. After the 10 resume to basic crunches position for another 10, then repeat. Continue with the 3-4 set to failure with this technique.

Leg Raises: Start by lying flat on the floor, with your hands behind your head, then slowly lift your legs to about 8 inches from the floor and hold for 20 seconds. After the 20 seconds has elapsed, move your legs up another 8 inches and hold for another 20 seconds. The final step is to move your legs up once more to 45 degrees from the floor, for another 20 seconds, then rest. Repeat this exercise 3-4 times.

Plank: Lie face down on mat resting on the forearms; place the side of your hands on the floor in a fist shape. Push off the floor, raising your body onto your toes resting on the forearm and elbows. Keep your back flat (like a plank), in a straight line from head to feet. Tilt your pelvis and contract your abdominals to prevent your buttocks from sticking up in the air. Hold for 60 seconds, and repeat for 3-4 sets.

If you are in the gym, using the crunch bench with the crunch techniques explained above is great, you will have excellent abs in no time. Remember to keep going to failure, this technique really does help the abs grow and tone in no time at all.

Crunch Machine: The crunch machine gives the same effect as the crunch bench; however you can add your own weights to it. Always remember when lifting weights, not to over do it. Place a weight on the crunch machine that you can lift comfortably. 20 repetitions should do it, now increase the weight a little. Attempt another set of reps, immediately after the weight increase. This time keep going to failure. After the first set to failure increase the weight again, by this time you should be feeling the burn. Repeat this process for 3-4 set after the initial 20 set warm up.

Leg Raise Apparatus: Assume the leg raise position on the leg raise frame. Start by slowly lifting your knees to your chest; once again repeat this process to failure. Repeat the knee raises for 3-4 sets. Enhance the workout by slowly lifting the legs up in an arcing motion without bending the knee and slowly lowering. Once again repeat this process to failure for 3-4 sets. You can also mix the two leg raise techniques together, by first starting with the knee raise for a warm up set. Them moving into the leg raise to get the burning sensation.

Working on your abs can be done any time, try to do an abs workout before every training session. Combine all the techniques you have learned above and amazing abs will be knocking on the door of your stomach very shortly.

Best Abs Workout

November 6, 2009 by

In pursuit of the best abs work out the American Council on Exercise conducted a study and here are some of the most effective and best abs work out that we can use.

On top of their list is the bicycle exercise which targets both the waist and the six pack. To do this properly, one has to lie on one’s back and place fingers behind one’s head. Move the knees in towards the chest area and lift the shoulder blades without pulling on the neck. Then straighten the left leg out while at the same time turn the upper body to the right. In effect, bringing the left elbow towards the right knee. Next is to switch sides, this time bringing the right elbow towards the left knee. Continue the pedalling motion for 12-16 repetitions. Make sure you alternate sides.

The second best abs work out is the captain’s chair leg raise. The captain’s chair is a rack with padded arms that allows your legs to hang freely. One must avoid swinging the legs or using the momentum to raise one’s legs. Always keep the knees bent since this will help you focus on your abdominals not on your hips. To do this correctly, stand on the chair and grip the handholds to make your upper body stable. Then press your back against the pad and compress your abs to be able to raise your legs and lift your knees towards your chest. Remember not to arch your back or swing your legs up. You should slowly lower your back down. Do this in sets of 1-3 consisting of 12-16 repetitions.

The third best abs workout is the exercise ball crunch. Here you just need to lie on your back with the ball under your mid or lower back. You can either place your hand behind your head or cross your arms over your chest. Then contract your abs in order to lift your torso off the ball. This in effect, will pull the bottom of your ribcage down towards your hips. Always keep the ball steady when curling up to avoid any injuries. Lastly, lower your back down. This will stretch your abs. Do at least 12-16 repetitions.

Six Pack Abs Workout

September 24, 2009 by

When going to the beach or swimming pool which body part do you really think most catches the eye? According to research the most watched body part happens to be the abs. There are many exercises that you can do to help you achieve those six pack abs. First you need to remember that everybody naturally has abs, however some peoples abs are just covered by more fat then others.

The first thing that is great to use is called the ab machine. The abdominal machine is found in many gyms and makes you do a crunching motion by directing you in the proper position. You can increase and decrease the resistance as you wish. When doing exercises make sure to move in a slow motion and flex your abs while doing the exercise. If you have more resistance then you will see more of a difference when attempting to define your abs.

You can use any item such as a book, a dumbbell or anything else that you may choose. You should put the weighted object in the position of either being over your head and hold it in place with your hands. You should perform these exercises the exact same way that you would if you were not using any type of weights.

Another great ab exercise to do would be hanging leg lifts. You simply use a pull up bar and allow your legs to hang down however also making sure that they are relaxed so that your knees do not bend and your toes are pointed.

Yet another simple exercise to do would be to lay flat on your back on a mat with bending your knees and your feet positioned flat on the floor. Put your hands by your ears however making sure they are not actually touching the head and crunch your midsection up and across, trying to touch your right elbow to your left knee. Make sure that you concentrate on flexing your stomach and then slowly go back to the starting position and repeat. These are just some of the various exercises you can do to achieve those six pack abs.
