I received a defective DVD – the thing was stuck on the intro and just played the same song, over and over. I returned it for exchange and received yet ANOTHER one, with the same problem. I attempted to play both of these on more than one machine and got the same (non)results. Retirned for refund and will not order from this seller again.

I have taken Belly Dance classes, which have been much more engaging, fun, and well-done than this DVD. The woman in this video seems to know what she is doing and is pleasant, she’s just fine, but the moves and boring, lengthy repetition were quite disappointing. I was so excited to use this video, but I decided to pay for another class at the YMCA and won’t be using this DVD.
The very worst thing, that I find quite deceptive, is that a great deal of the footage on this DVD and the one titled “Belly Dance Basics” are exactly the same – they are the same footage. I feel ripped off with this.

First of all, from the very start the video was chopped up and confusing. The workout segments wouldn’t raise the heart rate of a 90 year old and the whole thing was a complete failure. What it really looks like is a bored house wife with very little belly dance expertise who wanted to make a video. I feel completely ripped off!

ok, so i am farely new to belly dancing. the beautiful thing about belly dancing is that the beautiful moves that make up the dance are so natural and organic that alot of people already know how to do the moves when they let there body go. so with that said there are also alot of people who need/want step by step guidance, i am a fan of michele joyce and i own quite a few of her videos.
i enjoy watching the videos(not just michelle’s) to get beautiful insight how these wonderful dancers but there moves together, in this video only 10 minutes in to it, i was confused, i feel like she took beautiful natural organic movements and turned them upside down and around they werent “bellydancing” anymore they were jerky, tight and “unnatural” so i will say that this isnt the best video to get. there are so many great videos out there another michele joyce video that is great is the bellydance crash course. but i will also add the best bellydance video that is on amazon is the luscious the bellydance workout(which doesnt have to be a workout its a beautiful dance sequence that stays true to the natural movements and another video is sensual belly dance with blanca it is just absolutly wonderful!and bellydance basics and beyond is another great one and bellydance yoga conditioning with ariellah. michelle joyce is just an ok dancer and ok teacher but she is a friendly person it seems in the videos but if you need/want a great video i wouldnt pick this dvd.

I find this dvd very boring. There is no flow to the exercise section, just individual segments. I usually end up forwarding through much of the dvd because I find the music annoying & I don’t like how the instructor spends so much time breaking down the moves. That is fine when you are just learning but not when you have already watched it a couple of times & just want a good, fun workout. I don’t really like her outfit as she seems to spend too much time adjusting her pants so we can see what her legs & feet are doing. I much prefer the video tape (yes, a tape) I have by Veena & Neena Bidasha. I have had that tape for years & still work out to it. I still get a burn in my shoulders & arms. I am going to purchase an actual dvd of their before my video tape dies…

Now that is Michael
Here's what you uncle and PT should have told you.
Long story short, in the 50's, a nation impoverished by war recovered. Unscrupulous and ruthless business men realized that teenagers now had money and represented a market. So, they began promoting all sorts of crap from music to muscle to this new market to exploit their naive desires for being popular and envied. Among them was Joe Weider who created an empire based on male vanity. Joe was a "muscle man" who wanted to make money from his love, bodybuilding. But he had competition. So, the way to beat the competition was to build a bigger and better man. He used steroids and genetic freaks to do it but the bodybuilding contests were all regulated by athletic associations so he started his own; the Mr. Olympic pro contest which was run by his brother, Ben. And, of course, the winners were from his stable. He used his freaks, like Arnold, to advertise that he could make YOU, the average guy, look like that. He bought bb equipment companies and nutritional supplement companies and built a $billion empire from the exploitation of young male vanity and, eventually females too.
That was the beginning of the end of common sense in athletic performance as increasingly people began to try to engineer themselves and others to be something other than what nature intended. The folly in that is simple. We evolved to be what we are today and nothing we can do can beat nature. Sadly that idea, the idea that we can improve upon nature with artificial substances, has become a cultural meme which persists today with no sign of sanity returning to athletics. From what you've said, you too are a victim of that pervasive meme.
If you think you can trump nature, check out this photo.
Here are some quickie Dos and Don'ts.
DO
- Avoid all supplements as they are not regulated and you don't know what you're getting when you buy a supplement product.
- Eat a healthful diet, get ample sleep, keep stress low, work hard, educate yourself, indulge yourself in those things which bring you happiness.
- Talk to your physician or physician referrals if you have questions. Use only authoritative sources for information such as Elington Darden's books.
DON'T
- Don't be seduced by those who are trying to sell you an easier way by appealing to your vanity and telling you can be something you're not.
- Don't pay any attention to product advertising, it's all propaganda. Don't buy into the something for nothing meme.
- Don't read muscle mags and contribute money in any way to that perverse industry.
Nature has given you a body, a brain, and a life. Make the most of all three naturally, the way nature intended.

ok, I hate to say this because I LOVE beyonce, but I think this video is LAME…the song sucks too. I am so sick and tired of Shakira's belly dance…I get it shakira you can belly dance…can you do anything else?
Anything else? How about singing in a unique and amazing voice, writing songs in both Spanish and English with some of the best lyrics and some of the most varied music in the pop market?
